This brief, but beautiful moment can be anything that makes you feel cozy, or warm, anything you find inexplicably charming, or a simple moment in which you feel kinship, or connection towards something, or someone. It can be a moment in which you burn some incense and the subsequent aroma evokes a sense of nostalgia, or happiness within you. Or, a moment in which you are very present with your friends and you feel the joy and gratitude exuding from within. A few months ago, I experienced hygge with my forever friends. We woke up at 5 am to go to the Valencian beach, one last time, to commemorate our semester there. I felt so connected to God, and the world, and the palm trees, and the water, and my friends, and the list goes on and on. But isn't that what we all want in the end: to feel a connection to our surroundings? To feel joy and gratitude? To be present and truly enjoy the people we are living our lives with? I know I sure do. I'm so grateful for the Danes (shout out to my best friend, Allison, for being Danish) for establishing a word for this very idea of a magical moment. Love, Anastacia Grace
